EXHIBITION STATEMENT:
My paintings are inspired by the Eastern Washington landscapes considered baren, sparse,
or unrelenting are sources of visual information; specifically habitats that have been in a
cycle of production, places altered by ranching, logging, wildfires, and large-scale
agriculture. Each painting has a tactile range of surfaces utilizing material layers, including
dry drawn surfaces, ink and watercolor for flow, spray paint for haze and ambiguous
spatiality, and fluid applications for chance drips and rivulets. Final layers include implied
and actual surface textures.
